Hath no man condemned thee? She said, no man Lord, and Jesus said to her; neither do I condemn thee, go and sin no more! So what He was telling her was that He wouldn't condemn her, with the explicit instruction of "go and sin no more" which is repentance, which is an act, or works if you want to put it that way. Faith without works is dead. Yes we are saved by Jesus, but if you don't repent then it will not work for you. If you don't have the faith to believe in Him then it will not work either, so we are saved by Faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement for our sins and our repentant and contrite hearts!
