Is Christianity Fake?
That’s a question I’ve asked numerous times. It all started at a time in my life when I felt really depressed and turned to fellow Christians for help. Everyone had a ready answer, but none of them were helpful. It seemed that people were more interested in giving me “blanket” answers rather than really identifying with me and caring about me.
Not to mention that so-called Christians don’t seem to live any differently from non-Christians. There doesn’t appear to be any difference whatsoever. In fact, many times it seems that non-Christians are kinder and more considerate than Christians!
What about evangelism/proselytizing? Didn’t Jesus say to “go and tell” people about Him? Why then do churches always adopt a “come and see” approach? They like to send out mass-mailings and put up billboards, but not to tell people about Jesus. They instead advertise their pastor or talk about their programs and agendas. Are they building God’s kingdom or their own?
If you are questioning Christianity and all of these things, join the club. This blog is dedicated to exposing inauthentic expressions of faith and identifying genuine ways to practice nonreligious Christian spirituality as Christ-followers. At the same time, I’ll try to help you muddle your way through the emerging church, avoiding that which is heretical and embracing that which is good – there’s a lot of both going around these days.
The bottom line, however, is that there is no reason to reject Christianity altogether. Only inauthentic expressions of it. Just because there are fake and corrupt people in the world doesn’t mean I will stop entering into friendships. It’s a risk I take. Christianity is the same way, and even more so, because wounded people flock to Christ. The Church is a hospital for sinners, not a museum for saints. Nevertheless, there is much that can be done to improve Her that is often neglected by leaders today.
The bottom line: the Gospel

Why are Christians so “right-wing?”
Do the terms “Evangelical” and “Republican” go hand-in-hand? Are Christians right-wing puppets of the Republican party?
